	Mariel Hamm was born on March 17, 1922 in Selma, Alabama. Mia's father was in the navy and she was always moving around the world. She got the name Mia from her mom because she reminded her of her favorite Ballet Dancer.
	Hamm was very good at a lot of sports as a young girl. She was the only girl to play football on her junior high football team. She was also one of the first girls to play Little League baseball in Texas. Her favorite still remanded Soccer.
Mia Hamm went to The University of North Carolina and became a Tar Heel. She played on her college team. She then went on to play on the United States National Team. She just recently played in the 2003 Fifa World Cup.

Briana Collette Scurry was born on September 7, 1971 in Dayton, Massachusetts. She is the youngest of 9 children. When she was just a child her mother told her she could do anything she wanted and that is one of the reasons for all of her success. When she was younger she was involved in many sports such as, soccer, track, basketball, floor hockey, and football. She also has a tattoo of a black panther on her one shoulder.

Scurry went to The University of Massachusetts and majored in political science. She was the goalkeeper for her school team and was named National Goalkeeper of the Year.

Scurry has been the U.S.A.'s number one goalkeeper since 1994. Scurry's first experience for the U.S. national team was on March 16, 1994 vs. Portugal. Also on that day was her first shutout. She recently participated in The 2003 Fifa World Cup. The U.S. team ended up losing in the semi-finals to Germany 3-1.
