Basic techniques

Dirt bike riding just like all sports has more difficult techniques and some basic techniques. Some basics include wheelies, jumps, berms, down hill, up hill, and getting a feel for the bike.

To learn how to do a jump like this you first have to learn the basics. First you want to make sure you are well balanced and hit the jump straight and not on a turn or angle.

To do a berm or bank you want to be as for forward on the seat as you can. Make sure your foot is up as far as the tire. never slow down in the middle. Lean the bike down on an angle try to keep you body straight up and down.
For a wheelie you want to hold the clutch in shift in first gear rev the bike and just let the clutch go. Make sure you do not flip the bike on you to prevent the bike from flipping tap the brake or lean forward. Standing is a more skilled way.
One of the best skills to know is how your bike acts or body language. This skill just comes in time. However if your new on the bike see how much traction you have on a berm or how the throttle is high rev or low rev. This just might be the best basic skill.
There is one last skill you should know. Its down hill. most people have a fear of going fast. The easiest way is just to go down and act like you are going on flat land. Brake a few seconds before you would on flat ground.
