Killer Whales usually mate and give birth about the age of 14. The male and female don't stay with each other after mating. The mother takes care of any offspring. Killer whale mothers give birth every 3 to 10 years and usually have only 1 calf each time. Gestation period for females are 13 to 16 months. At birth, calves weigh about 400 pounds and are about 7 1/2 feet long. |
