This beautiful herding dog is recognized by the AKC and the UKC. Its coat consists of medium-harsh guard hairs and downy undercoat.

The Tervuren's colors can include a rich fawn color to a russet mahogany. There can also be a black overlay, which means that the tips of the hair are black.

Males can be 24 - 26 inches tall and weigh 60 - 70 pounds. Females can be 22 - 24 inches and weigh 45 - 55 pounds.

The best home for a Tervuren is an active home with an owner who can manage the reactivity of the breed.

The Tervuren is good with children but a child shouldn't be the caretaker of this high-energy dog.

The Belgian Tervuren is highly trainable and will get along with other dogs. Cats, however, could trigger the prey instinct.

The majestic and loyal qualities of this breed make it one of my personal favorites.
