The Australian Shepherd is a beautiful herding dog with striking color combinations and a cute little bobtail.

Australian Shepherds were not developed in Australia as the name suggests, but were developed in the U.S. as a herding dog.

The colors of this breed include blue merle, black, red merle and all red, with or without white markings and\or tan points.

Most make good pets with children, but some have been bred to be more aggressive. Most do well with other pets.

The Aussie has high guarding skills, but is a passable watchdog.

This breed can be 18 - 23 inches tall and can weigh 35 - 70 pounds.
