The koala is very dependent on the trees of the woodland environment. Its home is in the eucalyptus forests of  Australia. 

 
Its only food is eucalyptus leaves.  The juice in the leaves and dew on them are there only moisture they get.
Koalas are nocturnal.  During the night they eat.  During the day they sleep on a tree branch.
 

 
Koalas aren't related to bears. Even though people call them koala bears.  They are related to kangaroos and wombats. 
Koalas have a pear-shaped body.  This helps them remain stable while sitting in trees.
 

Koalas have extra thick hair on the back of the neck.  It helps protect them from bad weather. 
Koala babies are called pouch young, back young, joeys or cubs.  

 

 Koalas can communicate together by making a noises like a snore or a belch.
