When you take a lay-up it is very important to always look at the                 basketball hoop a

Jump shots are done off of a dribble and are a popular form of a shot.  To do a jump shot pick the ball up from a dribble, square up to the hoop, and jump while you shoot.  After the ball is in the air , you should land in the same spot that you jumped form.

A lay- up is a one- handed shot from one side of the basket.  Usually, it is a very easy shot, because you are shooting the ball very close to the basket.  It is very important to always look at the basketball hoop at all times.  If you don't you may come to close to the ball and miss the shot.
When you go up for a right handed lap-up , you will go off of your left foot and dribble off of your right hand.  Make sure to plan your steps so that your inside foot will be your last step you take before going into the air.  Also, make sure that your inside foot is planted and turned towards the hoop.  Then , raise both your outside foot and arm towards the hoop.  Jump off of your planted foot, and release the ball, aimed for the backboard.

For a slam dunk , start off by practicing the lay- up.  Lay the ball over the rim so it just tips into the basket.  Keep on doing this until your knuckles hit the bottom of the rim.  Then, try to get your hand over the rim, as you lay the ball in.  This may take a long time, but once it has happened, you are ready to Slam Dunk!

Put your hand over the rim, but this time hold on, and come down safely.

\      This is something to never forget, when you are playing basketball in a game only take the shots that you are good at.  Don't take a shot that you have never taken before.  Remember to always Practice, Practice, and Practice.
