DRIBBLING |
SHOOTING If you want a basketball to go in, then you have got to practice. In order to be a good shooter you have to shoot over, and over, and over again. Many good basketball players shoot up to 100 to 200 shots a day. They practice lay-ups, jump shots, set shots, and even foul shots. |

Dribbling is a way of moving the basketball up and down the court. If you dribble the ball you are in possession of it. Dribbling is very important ball handling skill, all players need it to become good at the game. |
To shoot the ball the correct way spin should be on the ball while the ball is in the air. To do this as you release the ball your wrist should be facing down. Many people say, "Put your hand in the cookie jar." |

For many people dribbling may look very easy to do, but it really is not. Many people also citize the fact that the ball gets stolen off of the player, but it is also hard to protect the ball. While you dribble with one hand, your other hand should be out protecting the ball. This will help you so the ball does not easily get stolen away from you. |
When you take a shot, you should be facing the hoop with both of your shoulders the same length apart from one another. This form of shooting is called squaring up. If you are not facing the hoop while you are shooting the ball, the ball will most likely not go to where you intended it to. Be sure to always look at the closest part of the basketball rim to you while shooting. Do not look away from the hoop while you shoot the ball to see if anyone is near you. |

REBOUNDING |
PASSING Passing the ball is the quickest way to move the ball up and down the court. It is also one of the most important skills in basketball. Passing takes a long time to master. |
A rebound is when the ball is when the basketball does not go in the hoop and bounces off the backboard or rim. When a player from your team takes a shot, and a player from your team rebounds the ball it is called a offensive rebound. When a player from an other team takes a shot, and a player from your team rebounds it, it is called a defensive rebound. Three of the most important rebounding skills are: boxing out, grabbing the ball, and having control of the ball. |
