Techniques are everything.  They are the way you ride.  Here are some you should know.
A good technique for walking up hills is to take your back foot out of the binding but keep the other foot in.  After that turn the board sideways and dig into the snow on the hill.  Go up the hill using the board like a step.
Falling backwards is a good thing to know.  It is better to fall backwards than any other way.  When you feel like you are going to fall, get as low as you can and roll backwards.
Warming up is a good thing to know.  Before a run, just stretch and move around a little.  Doing this could prevent injury.
Goofy foot is a technique if you are left handed.  It is riding with your right foot in the front binding.

S-curves are the kind of turn you should make when going down a hill.  You just turn back and forth down a hill.  You do this so you don't loose control or go to fast.
Carving is the way to turn in snowboarding.  How to do it is tilt your board on its edges while you turn.

Stopping Forward is important.  When you want to stop,  turn your board in front of you so you stop forward.
