By 1965 skateboarding fever had spread across the country. Nearly 50 million skateboards were sold. The quality of the boards were not very good and the people didn't like them. |

The skateboarders in the early 1960's and the late 1950's were pretty "crude" compared compared to the skateboarders of today. |

Around 1970-1971 (almost 30-40 years after skateboarding was invented) rubber wheels came about instead of the steel wheels. The rubber wheels could absorb shock better than the steel ones. |

Some kinds of boards were made differently. They were made longer, wider and thinner, which allowed more cushion and more maneuverability. The tricks could be performed now by the concave in the board. |
| By 1975 skateboarding once again swept the country. magazines started to hit the market. Then at that point skateboard ramps started to come out to. But today skateboarding is popular as ever. | ![]() |
