This is a picture of a kickboard. A kickboard is used to strengthen your leg muscles. There are all different kinds of kickboards you can buy. Kick boards are easy to use. You just hold them out in front of you and kick.  

This is a picture of a pair of flippers. Flippers also are used to strengthen your leg muscles. When you put the flippers on you can go really fast. Flippers are fun to use, but after a while they start to hurt your ankles. They are used most of the time to help you with the butterfly kick. 

This is a picture of some caps. Girls have to use a cap when they swim, but boys do not have to. Boys can choose to wear them if they would like. Girls have to because girls have more hair that boys. Caps are easy to put on and do not hurt. 

This is a pair of goggles. Goggles help make sure that no water gets in your eyes. There are many different kinds of goggles. If you want a better pair of goggles you would probably have to spend more money. There are even prescription goggles for people that can not see with out there glasses, those are what I wear. After a while goggles start to hurt your eyes. These goggles in this picture are a pair of okay goggles. There would be considered a practice pair of goggles. 

This is a pull buoy. This is used during warm up. You use this to strengthen your arm muscles. You put this between your legs so that you don't kick and  you only use you arms. These are made up of a soft material so they do not hurt when you use them. You just have to be careful that it doesn't fall out from between your legs.  This is a pair of shoes. For swimming it is a good idea to wear sandals if you are walking around deck. If you don't wear shoes you might get some nasty disease like athletes foot. So it is a good idea to wear shoes. They make all different kinds of shoes. These ones in the picture are a good pair. They are very conferrable. These are the ones that I wear. 

This is a picture of a water bottle. When you swim you have a good chance of getting dehydrated so it is a good idea to have a water bottle at the side of the pool. There are all different kinds of water bottles. When you swim you would probably have water. You could also have Gatorade or Powerade. 

This is a picture of the different kinds of paddles. The paddles come in different sizes because people have different size hands. Paddles are used to improve your arm muscles.  Paddles have straps that allow you to keep them on securely. 
Equipment has a huge role in swimming at practices and meets. At a meet you would to have a cap and goggles on but at practice you would have to use a kick board, flippers, pull buoy, water bottle, and paddles. You have to wear shoes at both a practice and a meet. Cap and goggles are another thing that you would have to have for both. Most of the equipment that you use all have a huge influence in strengthening your muscles, except for the cap, goggles, and shoes.
