Cloud Strife's past is shrouded in mystery. He is assumed to be 21 and from Nibelheim, although he may only have heard that from Tifa and assumed it to be true. Cloud was a member of SOLDIER and was experimented on with Jenova Cells. Some of the past which Cloud reveals in Kalm may not be true. Ok, here is what we are told and know. Cloud is 21, born on August 19 in Nibelheim. He is 5'7" and uses a sword as his weapon. |
| Barret Wallace is the head of a 'terrorist' group called AVALANCHE. The members of the group before Cloud joined were Biggs, Wedge, Jesse, and sometimes Tifa. Barret takes care of his old friend Dyne's daughter. He assumed Dyne was dead (and later is) so he found Marlene and took care of her. Barret started hating Shinra when they burnt down his hometown of North Corel. After that, he founded AVALANCHE at Cosmo Canyon. He is 35, born on December 15 in Corel Village. Barret is 6'4" and uses a gun which is grafted to his arm. |

Tifa Lockheart was friends with Cloud (or someone she knew as Cloud) since her childhood in Nibelheim. Shortly after she opened her bar in Midgar, Tifa met Barret and AVALANCHE later made it their headquarters. She later helps Cloud discover who he really is when he starts going crazy. Tifa is 20, born on May 3 and from Nibelheim. She is 5'4" and uses gloves as her weapon. |
| Aeris Gainsbroth is one of the last Ancients alive on earth. The Ancients were the original inhabitants of Earth and died off when Jenova unleashed a virus on them. Aeris' parents are Professor Gast and her mother Iflana. Iflana was how she got her Ancient blood. Aeris ended up in the Slums of Midgar, which is where she later met Cloud. Aeris is 22 and was born on February 7 in the Icicle Inn area. |

Red XIII is one of the last of his kind. His father Seto died while holding of the Gi tribe from invading Cosmo Canyon. His mother died protecting the people of Cosmo Canyon from the Gi. At first he thought his father Seto ran away like a coward, but later finds out otherwise. Red XIII meets Cloud in the Shinra Headquarters when he (Red XIII) is being experimented on. Red XIII is 48 in his species years, but only really a teenager and he was born in Cosmo Canyon. He is 3'9" on all fours and uses the 'headdress' as his weapon. |
| Cid Highwind is a pilot from Rocketown. He was going to be the first man in space, but do to Shera, a mechanic, he had to abort the launch to save her life. By the next time they were supposed to launch, Shinra found mako energy and were no longer concerned with the Space Program. Cid is also mad at Shinra since they took his prized aircraft, Highwind. Cid isn't as mad at Shinra as Barret is, but he is angry at them at the time so he joins Cloud. Cid is 32 and was born on February 22. He is 5'8" and uses the spear as his weapon. |

Yuffie Kisaragi is a ninja from the village of Wuati. Her father is Godo who happens to be the Chief of Wutai. She joins you after you beat her in the Junon woods, but watch out if you say the wrong the thing, she'll steal your money. At first Yuffie's goal is to steal your materia, but later she is a little more trustworthy. Yuffie is 16 and was born on November 20 in Wutai. She is 5'2" and uses the Origami. |
| Cait Sith is a stuffed animal who used to work as a fortune teller in the Gold saucer until he met Cloud. Cait Sith is controlled by Reeve from Shinra Headquarters until it is blown up. Cait Sith is 3'2" and uses a megaphone for his weapon. |

Vincent Valentine was one of the first people that Shinra experimented on with Jenova Cells. He loved Lucrecia until he was experimented on and Hojo took Lucrecia and they later had the original Sephiroth. Lucrecia didn't see that Vincent loved her at first, but she later caught on. Vincent is 27 (subtracting the years that he slept) and was born on October 13. He is 6' and uses a gun. |
