In 1993 Mario Lemieux learned he had cancer. That didn't stop him from playing hockey though after taking one year off in 1994 95' he came back for the 95'96' season and dominated just like he had done before.
In 1997 Lemieux played what he thought to be his final game. He was wrong. After a 3 and a half year retirement, he came back to play again on December 27,2001 and was still on top of this game. Its now 2003 and Lemieux is 37 years old and still playing for the Pens.
