In 1993, Lou Pearlman decided that it was time to introduce a new guy group into the music scene. He quickly placed an add in the national newspapers looking for young, new talent. He quickly got the 5 guys together and he produced the group the BackStreet Boys. |

Records signed the band in 1994 but quickly dropped them saying they
weren't interested in the "guy group" thing. It was hard for them
to get a label since most of them said the boy band thing was over. |
Jive Records, a fairly new label, signed the group. In 1995, the released their first single, "We've Got it Goin On" . No one thought they could lose but they were wrong. The song only reached 69 on the charts. |
Their first CD was released in 1997. Some of the top songs on this album include "Quit Playin Games", "As Long As You Love Me", and "Everybody". This CD sold 7 million copies. |
