A.J. was born on January 9, 1978, in West Palm Beach, Florida. His parents divorced when he was four and was raised by his mom. 

When A.J. was five he started modeling for JC Penney's catalog. He then got a role in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He had a great time in the show and went on to perform 20 other local theater productions. 

A.J. was still in high school when he became a Backstreet Boy. He was only 15.

 When A.J. was five 12 he and his mother moved to Orlando to explore more options in the entertainment field. He then started taking singing, acting, tap, jazz, ballet, and hip-hop classes. He then received small parts in Nickelodeon series. He has the most acting experience of all the guys.

The band members call A.J. Bones.

Through all the tattoo's and piercing's A.J. has a smooth voice and outrageous personality. A.J. says that all of his 10 tattoo's have special meanings.
