Born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. As a child he spent lots of time playing basketball in the park. Michael attended the university of North Carolina. In his freshmen year he he won the NCAA championship for for the North Carolina Tarheels. he was named to the NCAA all tournament team as a freshman. In his sophomore year of collage he was chosen to play on the U.S. basketball team. He was the top scorer on the team and brought home the gold metal. After his 3rd year of collage he was drafted to the Chicago Bulls. in his first year he averaged 27 points per game, and was named rookie of the year.
