
Larry Joe Bird was born on December 7th 1956 in Bedford, Indiana. Larry Bird had all three qualities it takes to become a great basketball player. These qualities were skills, dedication, and a rare quality of leadership. Larry's leadership ability set him apart from the rest. It changed him from a good player to a superstar. After 24 days at IU he left and hitchhiked back to the valley. He then went back to IU after receiving another scholarship. He helped the team only loose 1 game in 2 years and win a national championship. He was drafted into the NBA in 1978 to the Boston Celtics. In his best season Larry averaged about 30 points per game and scored over 2000 points in 76 games. In 1992 Larry retired from basketball.
