| Brittany Murphy was born in Atlanta on November 10, 1977, but was raised my her mother in New Jersey. She auditioned at the local community musical theatre then she was 9 years old. After studying for a few years, attending the theatre, and getting recognition from local agencies, Brittany's mother Sharon took her to Burbank, California, since acting opportunities were limited in her hometown, New Jersey. After starting at a new school, John Burroughs High School, her passion for drama grew. |

She signed with a local agency and soon after, offers for shows, modeling, and movies were flooding in. She was in a pizza commercial at the age of 13 and had a small appearance in the TV show Murphy Brown in 1991. |

Her first major role in a TV was later that year. She was Brenda Drexell in the series Drexell's Class. After the success of the show, she had a guest appearance as Wendy in the TV series Blossom. Brittany's first movie role was in 1993 with the drama Family Prayers. After the movie, she appeared on Boy Meets World as Trini and Sister, Sister as Sarah. |
| Her next big break was in 1995 with the movie Clueless. She played one of Claire's truly clueless friends named Tai. As her fame grew, she starred in many more movies, such as Double Jeopardy, the TV movie David and Lisa, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and Girl, Interrupted. |

In 2001, she played Fay Hope Forrester in Riding in Cars with Boys. Drew Barrymore was also in this movie. She also was in Don't Say a Word. In this movie, she was Elizabeth Maddox-Burrows, the girl who knows the number that would save a man's daughter. She worked with rapper Eminem in the movie 8 Mile. Recently, she was with Ashton Kutcher in the surprise number 1 hit Just Married. Critics claimed the movie wasn't very good, but that didn't stop it from reaching the top. |
