Ashton Kutcher was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on February 7, 1978. His full name is Christopher Ashton Kutcher. Ashton has a fraternal twin brother named Michael and an older sister, Tausha. At Clear Creek Amana High School, he was on the wrestling team and also loved the stage. He portrayed "Annie's" Daddy Warbucks in his senior year of high school. He attended the University of Iowa and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. He majored in biochemical engineering to find a way to help people with cardiomyopathy, the disorder his brother suffered from. To pay for college, Ashton worked at a General Mills cereal plant. His job was to vacuum cereal dust for $12 an hour.
Discovered at a local restaurant by a modeling agent, the modeling agency had him go by the name Ashton because of the large number of Chris' in the agency. After winning the Fresh Faces of Iowa contest in 1997, he moved to New York. From there, he started modeling for companies such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Versace. After becoming a success, Ashton moved out to Los Angeles in 1998. He auditioned for two TV shows, "Wind on Water" and "Teenage Wasteland", on the same day. He was landed both roles, and he chose to star in "Teenage Wasteland." Luckily, he didn't choose "Wind on Water." The show was cancelled quickly. "Teenage Wasteland" was renamed to "That 70s Show" and he plays Michael Kelso on the show.
Ashton has two pets, a cat named Fido and a dog named Buster. One of his favorite restaurants is Red Lobster. Rosie O'Donnell had given him a lifetime supply of Red Lobster, but he abused his privileges. He went back onto her show and complained, so she renewed it for him. One of his most embarrassing moments in high school was when he was duct-taped naked to a pole. It was part of the initiation for the wrestling team.
Even though he's a star, Ashton still enjoys doing the things he loves most. Some of his hobbies include playing chess, golfing, snowmobiling, and bowling. He loves the movies Forrest Gump, The Usual Suspects, and The Shawshank Redemption.
Ashton has hosted "Saturday Night Live" more than once and has appeared on shows such as "Just Shoot Me" and "Grounded for Life". He is also the star of "That 70s Show" and "Punk'd", which he produced. Some movies he has been in are Coming Soon, Down to You, Reindeer Games, Dude, Where's My Car?, and Just Married. He worked alongside 8 Mile's Brittany Murphy, who he was dating up until recently. They broke up towards the end of April. The Butterfly Effect and Seriously Dude, Where's My Car are due out in 2004, and My Boss' Daughter is due out later this year.
Ashton Kutcher has been nominated for multiple awards because of his roles on TV and in different movies. In 1999, he was nominated for the Young Artist Award, Best Performance in a TV Series, and Young Ensemble. He was a nominee for the Sierra Award and Best Male Newcomer in 2000 for Dude, Where's My Car? and was nominated for an MTV Movie Award, Male Breakthrough Performance, in 2001.
Ashton Kutcher has gone from a high school wrestler that lived in Iowa to a star in Hollywood. Although he is a star, you wouldn't be able to tell with his attitude. He says his style is "casual, very casual." This shows through his home. Yes, he does live in Hollywood, but it isn't the typical star mansion. It's a two-bedroom apartment.
