The first thing to know about snowboarding is you should always have a buddy on the slope.  If you got in trouble and had nobody with you, you would be in a dire and desperate situation. So always have a buddy when going up the slopes.

Snowboarding is an exciting sport, but whether  you ride on artificial slopes or the mountains it is important to be properly equipped.  Look for advice on the best equipment. 

 

At the left is a basic stance balanced and coordinated.  Even though everyone will very a little to suit their own style, but the principle is the same. Basic posture is moving forward and always watch where you are going.

It also matters if you are goofy or regular. Even though it is a term that says if your left foot (regular) leads or your right foot leads (goofy). If you are goofy or regular you might not know and it could affect your riding.

If you fall backwards it is important to know how to safely.  If you catch the heel edge and fall backwards relax, crouch, and roll 
Falling forward forward is also important to know, how to safely. When falling it is important to tuck your arms in until you reach the ground.  Then walk your hands back to get up.
