Nancy is an 18 year old amateur detective. Nancy has two best friends who help her out on her cases. They are slightly plump, blond Bess Marvin and her cousin Georgia Fayne. Georgia hates her name and prefers to be called George. George in contrast to her cousin Bess, has short dark curly hair, and an athletic build. Nancy's father, Carson Drew, is a well known attorney. He often aids Nancy in her detective work. Hannah Gruen is the Drew house keeper. Since Nancy's mother died when she was three, Hannah has been like a mother to Nancy. Often times cases get very dangerous, so Nancy calls on her boy friend, Ned Nickerson. Ned attends Emerson College, but makes himself available to help Nancy on mysteries.
