Orlando Bloom played Legolas (Greenleaf) in the award winning movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and the soon to be released The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. |

Orlando was told by Peter Jackson, the director of The Lord of the Rings, just two days before he graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama that Orlando had gotten the role as Legolas. "When I found out I had the role it was a surreal moment. Amazing." |
| The next 18 months Orlando spent over in New Zealand, shooting all 3 movie scenes for The Lord of the Rings. He had to wear a long, blonde wig and blue contacts to complete the look of Legolas. He also had to do some training, he studied Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai for his walk, bow and arrow for archery, horse-riding, swordplay, and paddle-training. |

Because of the success of the movie, Orlando became instantly popular and won "Best Breakthrough Performance" in the 2001 Internet Movie Awards, the "Best Debut" at the 2002 Empire Awards, the "Best Breakthrough Male Performance" at the 2002 MTV Movie Awards, and interviewed by many magazines. |
