Biography

Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, Kent in England. Orlando grew up in a modest household with an older sister, Samantha who's 4 years older than him. Once Orlando found out that the movies and shows on television weren't real but actors just pretending he decided to become and actor.

Orlando graduated from high school in 1993 when he was only 16 years old. After that Orlando moved to London to join the National Youth Theatre. While he was attending he got an act in "Casualty" a British show on television. He then got a scholarship to attend the British American Drama Academy, where he played the role in "A Walk in Vienna Woods." There he was noticed by an agent which helped him get the role in Wilde in 1997.

He didn't have an important role in Wilde, with only one line, but that soon earned him notice. He was asked to come on many television shows, but he turned them all down saying he wanted to further his career. After that he went to London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. There he performed in many plays, such as "Little Me," "A Month in the City," " Peer Gynt," " Mephisto," "Twelfth Night," "Trojan Woman," "The Seagull," "Three Sisters," "Recruiting Officer," "Antigone," "Uncle Vanya," "A Night Out," and "Mystery Plays." He played on screen in 2000, playing Peter Drinkwater in the television series Midsomer Murders. , which increased his popularity and got him many awards. Since then he has been doing new projects non-stop. Film offers came up and he took many of them. He played Private Todd Blackburn in Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Do

After that he got the role as Legolas in the trilogy The Lord of the Rings. Next he played Joe Byrne in The Kelly Gang, and his first lead in a film, The Calcium Kid, playing Jimmy a milkman-turned-boxer. That movie comes out in 2003.

Some characteristics about Orlando Bloom is that he is 5' 11" , his hair color is dark brown, and he has dark brown eyes. His nickname is Orli or OB. He's a vegetarian and stays away from dairy products. His Father named him Orlando after the hero of Virginia Wolf's novel because he thought everyone would remember it. He's an adrenaline junkie and seems to be accident prone. He has a tattoo of 9 in Elvish form on his forearm and a sun on his torso which he got when he was 15. He admires Johnny Depp, Edward Norton and Daniel Day Lewis. His sister is 2 years older than he is and he once had a dog named Maude. He can speak French and his favorite football team is Manchester United.
