Matt Dillon was born on February 18, 1964 in New Rochelle, New York.  He is the Second oldest of five boys and one girl.  His family has been described as a tight-knit Irish Catholic family.  His father Paul was a stockbroker and his mother was a homemaker.    
Matt has been acting since his first debut in his fourth grade play as Benjamin Franklin.  When he was fourteen, a casting director was doing some scouting and ha saw Matt.  Matt had been skipping math class in the halls of Larchmont's Hommocks School.  
When director Vic Ramos interviewed him, he knew that he had the right kid play to play the part of a bully in the movie "Over the Edge."  When Matt got home to tell his parents that he had gotten a part in the movie "Over the Edge" that some brothers were making little did he know that they were the Warner Brothers.
When Ramos was talking to Matt about the movie Matt's first words out of his mouth were, do I get my carfare back?  When Ramos had asked him what he thought about himself he said that he is a thief.
