Matt Dillon has made thirty -three films in the past twenty-four years.  He  has made a transition from childhood actor to serious actor. 
In his first appearance in "Over the Edge" where he played a bully.  He was also played a bully in "My Bodyguard," "The Outsiders," and other childhood films.  Matt made his big transition from childhood actor to serious actor in 1989.  In 1989, he made a film called "Drugstore Cowboy" where he played a junkie who would rob drugstores to stay high.  He won an award for most serious actor.
His more serious films have been "Drugstore Cowboy," "The Saint of Fort Washington," "The Big Town," "A Kiss Before Dying," "Mr. Wonderful," "Albino Alligator," and "Beautiful Girls."
Even though Matt has been in some serious films, he decided to star in the 1998 movie "There's Something About Mary." He played a sleazy private detective who feel in love with a person he was hired to spy on.  He was hilarious in the movie.  His girlfriend at the time was in the movie with him.  It was Cameron Diaz.  He had fallen in love with her in the movie.
