There are different meters in the Motivation panel representing each of your Sims needs. The different meters are Hunger, Hygiene, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social, Room, and Comfort. Now we are going to take a look at each meter.
Hunger- Everyone needs to eat, even your Sims. Your options include snack, meal at home or ordering pizza! Food cost money, so don't have to much fun feeding your Sims. It is recommended that just a quick bite before work and a full meal when your Sims get home from a long day at work would be perfect! Study cooking, so that will cut down the time it takes your Sims to cook, you never know, they might just get a good job cooking if they read allot about it.

Hygiene-If your Sims is dirty; chances are that your Sim is in a bad mood. It is important to have good hygiene, so it is also important for your Sims to have good hygiene too! Practice brushing your teeth, taking a bath or a shower and remember, wash your hands. And for the lazy people, just go in the hot tub if everything else is too much work. I do recommend taking a bath, no matter what.

Bladder- Have you ever embarrassed yourself by wetting in front of other people. Well, your Sims will also wet themselves if you don't tell them to use the restroom. If your Sim is using the restroom and someone walks in, they will get up and start yelling. And one more thing, remember to flush!

Energy- Energy is one of the most time consuming, hardest meter to keep full. Your Sim needs to sleep at least 7 or more hours a night. There are 3 other ways, but they are temporary relief. You can catch up on sleep that you missed due to a party or work. Make/Drink an espresso, and take a nap!

Fun- Everyone needs fun in there life. here are tons of household items to choose from to let your Sim have fun. They can watch tv, dance to music, shoot hoops, or chill in the pool. If your Sims fun meter is to low, they will refuse to do anything.

Social- Your Sims will get lonely at times, so do other things with your Sims neighbors as much as possible. There are tons of ways to interact with your Sims neighbors, from just talking, or a friendly basketball game.

Room- When you are deciding whether he/she is happy with a room, your Sim carefully checks out the room. Is it clean? Is it well decorated? Is the furniture nice? The room meter changes more than any other meter. If you have a bust Sim or Sim family, get some hired help!

Comfort- The comfort meter is the easiest to maintain, your Sims comport meter increases when you go to sleep, sit down to eat or do anything that does not require your Sims to stand.
