Puppies

Breeding Shih Tzu is recommended to be left to experienced breeders, but responsible owners who want to breed can if they are careful about it. Since the Shih Tzu can have several different health problems, you should see what traits run in the family and what temper the dogs have before you decide to have a litter of pups. If you get your dogs from an experienced breeder you should be able to find the health problems easily. Each breeder should have a record going back several generations on the mother and the father both. This list will tell you what problems you could still have and what problems were breed out of the family from breeders before you. Once you find this out you can start to consider starting a Shih tzu family branch of your own. This would be the first step to breeding your adorable Shih Tzu.

The puppies do not require anything specific to sleep on. Although a cage is recommended to have for when you leave them alone or to put them in while you are sleeping. This is to prevent your puppy from getting into things that could harm them or upset you. A bed is good for them to lay on while you are home.

If you do not what your puppy to sleep in a cage at night they can sleep with you on your bed. This gives them comfort unlike a cage where they may cry. If you do get a cage and do not want your pup in your bed you should not remove them from their cage and place them on your bed when they cry. This will only make your puppy cry harder the following nights since it knows it can come with you when it does. The best thing is to let them cry no matter how it makes you feel.

Feeding your puppy is important. You should bye them the puppy food the original owner used since they are used to the taste. The food should be soaked in water so they do not choke since they usually do not chew their food before they eat it. Their food and water should be offered to them at all times.

Since the puppies are so small, they need to be let out to go to the bathroom often. You should let them out after every meal and after they have been taken out of their cage. You also might what let them out occasionally just to avoid accidents in your house.

These wonderful puppies may get into more than their share of mischief and a ton of work in the end it is worth it. If you love your puppy and take care of them; you will end up with a beautiful dog that will give you unconditional love for the rest of its life.
