Pink

Pink, born Alecia Moore, was born on September 8, 1979.  Her parents are James and Judy, and she has an older brother named Jason.  She has bright blue eyes, a ton of self-confidence, and a rebellious streak.  She grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Her dad was a great influence on her, and even at a young age, she knew she was born to be a singer.
At age 13, she met club dancer Skratch.  After meeting him, Pink became the backup singer of Skratch's rap group, School of Thoughts.
At 14, Pink wrote her first song.  She sings soprano and has an R&B and pop sound.  She always writes songs about her Philly childhood and past experiences.
Going clubbing started Pink's career in the music business.  She went to Club Fever on Fridays and got herself a five minute spot to sing.
Pink didn't quite fit in with Basic Instinct, so she left.  Next she signed with LaFace Records and the band Choice.  Because of differences in goals, Choice didn't work, but it did lead to Pink's relationship with LaFace Records, the label she's under now.
Pink's debut CD, Can't Take Me Home was released in Spring 2002.  She sings about real moments in her life and personal experiences, but never about romantic stuff.  Her inspirations include Mary J. Blige, Madonna, Janis Joplin, Whitney Houston, and the Supremes.  She spent her first summer tour opening for *N Sync.  "From skateboarder to hip-hopper to lead singer of a rock band--I did it all and all at the same time," is how Pink describes herself.  At only 23 years old, Pink has a wonderful future ahead of her.
