Avril Lavigne was born on
September 27, 1984 in a small 5,000 population town, Napanee, Ontario,
Canada. Avril started singing at only 2 years old at festivals, county fairs, and talent contests. At only 12, she wrote her first song, and she taught herself to play the guitar. From a young age, Avril always wanted to be the center of attention. She was the middle child and a true "wild child". At 16, Avril moved to Manhatten. It wasn't really working out for her in New York, so she moved to Los Angeles. LA gave her the new start that she needed. In LA, she met Clif Magness, and they clicked right away. Clif liked her sound, and he let her do basically whatever she wanted to. Avril usually hangs out with guys, but she does have three close girlfriends. She gets compared to Alanis Morisette a lot, which I imagine would be a great honor. Avril's influences include The Goo Goo Dolls, Incubus, and Matchbox 20. At photo shoots, Avril always brings her own clothes because she doesn't want to be made up into something that she's not. She has her own style, and she's very original. When Avril's not writing music, singing, or playing her guitar, she likes camping, skateboarding, hunting, and playing hockey. At only 18 years old, Avril Lavigne definitely will have a lot of success in the near future.
