This is the F-14 Tomcat.  The tomcat is one of the oldest planes in the Navy.  It was designed in the 1980's.  As you can see in the pictures below the F-14 can be used as a bomber or as a fighter plane.  The tomcat has been showed in the popular movie "Top gun" starring Tom Cruise.  The tomcat is a two setter plane with the gunner in the back and the pilot in the front.  In its arsenal of weapons it can carry the AIM-9 Sidewinder Heat Seeking missile.  They can also carry the sparrow missile witch is also like the sidewinder.  If you look at the picture on the right and two down you can see the tomcat by a Tomahawk Cruise missile.  This cruise missile Can be launched from a submarine or from a battle ship.  The second picture down on the left is a picture of the tomcat over the USS Kitty Hawk.  On the deck you can see the white streaks, these are the steam catapults that are used to send the aircraft flying off the deck close to 200 mph.
