The first game at PNC Park took place on April 9, 2001. That was one day after Willie Stargell's death! The Pirates played the Cincinnati Reds which were the first team to play there. Only in the first inning, Sean Casey of Upper St. Clair hit a home run at the left field seats. The Pirates did not play a very good game and the Pirates hit no home runs. The final score was 7-2 Reds but the next game the Pirates would defeat the reds. Todd Ritchie pitched in the first game and he did not pitch well do to much pressure. The first pirate hit was by Adrian Brown who is no longer with the Pirate's organization. The game ended in a disappointment on April 9, 2001. The Pirates  did not win the first game but still played well throughout the game. That game brought a brand new era to the Pirates organization.
