Before you learn about Disney movies, you should know about the man behind the magic, Walt Disney. On December 5, 1901 Walter Elias Disney was born in Chicago. As a child, he worked on his families farm in Missouri. |
| He and and his family moved to Kansas City where Walt became interested in movie making. At age 16, Disney joined an ambulance unit and set off for France. Soon he was back in Chicago pursuing a career in art. | |

| In 1923, Walt Disney and his brother Roy set up an animation studio in Hollywood. Disney started to become successful in 1928 when Mickey Mouse starred in Steamboat Willie. Mickey's voice was done by Disney himself. |

| By the 1930's Disney was becoming more popular. He created The Silly Symphonies and Flowers and Trees, which won an Acadamy Award. In 1935, Disney decided to make a feature, which turned out to be Snow White. The primere of Snow White was fantastic and it became the highest grossing movie until that time. Pinocchio followed Snow White and was also successful. |

During the 1940's Disney began to experience some financial difficulties with business, but he pulled through and created several features: Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi. |
| In the beginnning of the 1950's Cinderella was released which started the year off to a good start. Walt also began to develope Disneyland. He was inspired by trips to the park that he took with his kids. His idea of Disneyland was "a place adults and children can experience together some of the wonders of life, of adventure, and feel better because of it" | |

| In the 1960's Walt Disney decided to create Disneyland and EPCOT. Unfortunately, he died on December 15, 1966. Disney Lives on in the hearts of children and in his many movies. From Mickey Mouse to Cinderella, Disney will always be remembered. | |
