In October of 1944, when a riot of teenage girls erupted during the Frank Sinatra appearance at the Paramount Theatre in New York, Elvis was still one year away from his first public performance for a children's radio talent contest in his home town of Tupelo, Mississippi.

In 1956 Elvis was a hit. Backed by Scotty more the guitar player, Bill Black the stand up bass, and D.J. Fontana the drummer, he careened through more then 50 cities.

He made his First TV appearance in January and by September commanded the highest ratings his ever ( and the biggest fee ) on the Ed Sullivan show.

With what gifts did Evlis conquer a nation? His musicanship and his way with the ladies and his songs. His country and blues into rock and roll music inspired everyone.

He released his first LP in march and it became the first album to sell a million copies.
