George Harrison was born on February 24, 1943 in the Wavertree area of Liverpool. He had two brothers, Peter and Harry Jr., and a sister, Louise. His father, Harold, was a bus driver, and his mother, Louise, was a housewife.
George attended Dovedale Primary School two classes behind John. Later, he went to the Liverpool Institute one class behind Paul. George had always been a mediocre student. At an early age, he defied school code by wearing jeans and having long hair, but his strict parents didn’t like his rebelliousness, so he stopped.

George’s mother bought him his first guitar at age 13, and he soon formed his own group: The Rebels, but this didn’t last very long. He knew Paul from early on, having ridden on the same bus to school as he.
At age 14, George joined The Quarrymen because of Paul’s influence, and in 1960, they changed their name to The Beatles.

George married Pattie Boyd on January 21, 1966. He started to love to play the sitar and have an affinity for Indian music. After The Beatles was disbanded, he divorced Pattie in 1977.
George met Olivia Arrias in 1977. They fell in love and moved in together. Their son, Dhani, was born on August 1, 1978. He married Olivia one month later.

In the late 1990s, George was diagnosed with throat cancer. He died on November 29, 2001 in Los Angeles, California.
