In 1998 JLo started dating R&B rapper Puff Daddy on New Years Eve 1999. Jennifer and Puffy went to a night club to celebrate. Rapper Shayne and Puffy began arguing. Shots were fired and they fled the scene. Jennifer was arrested but not charged. They continued dating until February 2001 when they broke up.

Her next relationship was with a man named Chris Judd. He was her back-up dancer. She started dating him 3 months after the break-up with Puffy. They were married 9-29-01. 8 months later they divorced.
