| The Bethel Park Varsity hockey team has been very successful for the past few years. The Hawks have worked hard under their head coach, Jim "Mort" McVay. In 1997, the team won their first state title ever in the city of Harrisburg when they beat eastern half of the state. In the year 2000, the Hawks played Father Judge in the championships and won 3-2. The very next year, in 2001, the team played again in Harrisburg and won. And finally, last year, Bethel Park played and barely won right here in Pittsburgh. The boys hope to win their next few games to have the privilege of playing in this year's championships also! | |

| These are pictures of the boys after two of their winning state championship games. Other than the fact that they were named the best varsity hockey team in the state, the boys have a lot to be proud of. Three of the seniors of the class of 2003 have been on the team all four of their years at Bethel Park High School. With the help of their coach, these seniors have had an 84-6-2 game record. These players are not only amazing on the ice. Out of 61 freshman, JV, and varsity players, more than 50% of them are on the academic honor roll. Congratulations, boys! | |
