Dribbling is a very important skill learned in basketball.  There are many different ways to dribble and many skills that are taught.  Such as behind the back, spin dribble, and cross over.  Those are just a few simple ones that are commonly used today.

These are a few examples of the types of defense and offense your team can run.  These are probably some of the most basic ones to run.  They are easily taught and quickly learned by many.

This is a diagram explaining to someone how to use your pivot foot.  Pivoting is something you need you need to use and understand when playing basketball.  If you don't know how to pivot then you will easily get called for traveling.  You must use your  pivoting foot when you pick up your dribble.  The way you pivot is you choose a foot to stay on the ground and the other foot you are allowed to step with, just make sure you don't ever pick up your pivoting foot.

This is a diagram showing how and when the different areas on the court are to shoot and how many points they are worth.  The large arc in blue when shot from behind is worth 3 points, but if you step over the line even a little bit your shot is only worth 2 points.  Anything inside the arc is worth 2 points.  When you go to the foul line each shot is worth 1 point.  When you shoot a foul shot you can shoot 1-3 shots depending on where on the court you got fouled.

This is a diagram on how the typical court looks before a game.  Each team has five players out on the court and two referees.

In a jump ball two people stand in the center of the circle and when the referee throws the ball in the air, they jump up and try to tap in towards one of their teammates, once they do...they are off and the game begins!

Shooting form is very important in basketball.  Some people naturally have a nice shot, others have to work on it.  People with a nice shooting form can just catch the ball, and automatically catch the ball, set, and shoot.  Others have to think about it and take time to get set.
