Guards are usually always the smartest and fastest member on the team.  They mostly play in the area on the court between the half court line and the free throw line.  Guards need to be good ball handlers, excellent dribblers/passers and they have to be a skilled long range shooter.

If you have a fast, sneaky guard or point guard your team may be able to steal the ball off of the other team.  If you do this then you might be able to get a few easy points and maybe a foul if your lucky.

When you catch the ball and you are wide open for a shot, you should always catch, set, and then shoot.  A good shooter naturally doesn't have to think about this, it will just happen.  If you are not a natural born shooter it make take you  a while to get use to this concept.

The picture to the left shows you how to shoot in slow motion. Once you release the ball you should always follow through, which this kid isn't!!

Michael Jordan was one of the Chicago Bulls.  He is an outstanding player.  He known as a great jumper and ball handler.

This is a guard going up for the 3 pointer while he has two people coming at him to  block his shot.

The guy in the picture is a good example of a point guard.  He is dribbling with his head up and has good control of the ball.  When he picks up his dribble he will know exactly where he wants to pass, since he has his head up and is alert on what is happening on the court.

In this picture you can see where the guards stand on the court.  Guards are always on the outside of the arc or near the foul line.  They are usually long distance shooters!
