Wayne Gretzky is by far the greatest hokey player to ever step onto the ice. He still holds the record for the most points in a career.  His first three years that he played in the NHL, all of them were years when they won the Stanley Cup.
When Wayne Gretzky was a kid, he made his dad build an ice rink in his own back yard.  With the support of his father and the motivation, there was no doubt that he would become a super-star.  Wayne Gretzky was so dedicated that he had to go live with a different family when he played High-School hockey.
When Wayne played High-School hockey, he averaged about three goals a game. The parents of his teammates would "boo" him when he averaged these goals.  But he overcame that and became a star. The other records that Wayne Gretzky holds are for the most goals in one year, the most points in one year, and the most plus and minus average in a season.
