Ray Bourque is a well-known legend in the town of Boston.  He was their captain for sixteen years.  But his career lasted for eighteen years.  The last two years of his career, he was in the state of Colorado. The year of 2000 to 2001, they won the Stanley Cup.  The next year, when they lost in the Semi-Finals, Ray Bourque announced his retirement in front of his fans and family.
Although the years he spent in Boston weren't so great, he is still a legend.  He is not known for putting the puck in the net, he is known for his outstanding defensive work.
His final years in Colorado, he was on a defensive line with Adam Foot.  The forwards were Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, and Milan Hejuk.  It was said that this was the greatest line arrangement that has ever happened.
