Marshall Mathers was born on October 17, 1972, in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents are Debbie and Marshall Mathers. His father left them when Marshall was only six. his parents got married when they were 15 and got divorced at the age of 20. Marshall and his mother moved around a lot. They sometimes lived with relatives, sometimes even on their own. They moved around almost every two to three months. During these years, Marshall relied on his grandmother, Betty Kresin, for stability. 

Marshall dropped out of school in the 9th grade. When he was younger, Marshall would stand in front of his mirror and rap. He would try on different cloths and try to be like LL. He tried to look cool and lip-synch songs at his friends' houses and in front of his mirror. When he was younger, his friends were black. Racism was pointed out to him in some songs he sang. He didn't care if his friends were black. He just ignored the racism around him.  "In the beginning", the majority of his shows were black crowds. They would always yell to him, "You're a dope for a white boy". He would take it as a compliment. Marshall had to work hard to get people to look past his color. His rapping is from underground, it's not commercial rapping. underground is where he met Dr. Dre. He was the only one that gave him a chance. Before he made it big, he worked at Gilberts Lodge. A family restaurant. He worked here from1996 - 1998. 

Eminem has many tattoos. Two are very important tot him. One is of Hailie Jade's name. He got this in honor of his daughter, Hailie Jade Scott. She was born on Christmas of 1995. Kim is Hailie's mom. Another one is the name Ronnie. He got this tattoo in honor of his deceased uncle Ronnie Pilkington. He died in 1991, he committed suicide.
