| Marshall was born on October 17, 1972, and was born in Kansas City. He grew up in Detroit and was a only child. His mother was 15 and his father was 22 when they had him. His mother was a alcoholic and didn't look out for her son. Marshall and his mother moved away from his father when Marshall was only 6 months old, because Marshall, the father, was abusing his mother. They then moved back in fourth between Kansas City and Detroit Metropolitan area and Em and his mom moved to the east side of Detroit when he was 12. His dad moved to California and tried to start a new life. Eminem tried to write letters to his dad but he never got a reply. Switching schools a lot made it difficult to make friends and stay out of trouble. He would battle school mates to rap challenges in the lunchroom brought joy to his otherwise bad experience growing up. He then dropped out of school after he failed the ninth grade for the third time and then took the music business by storm. | |||
