There are many types of basses ranging from four strings to twelve strings.  There are also different styles, sizes, and sounds.  The most common bass seen is a four string bass.  This is also the simplest bass to use.  The strings are from bottom to top G, D, A, E.  The bass guitars with more strings have the same first four strings then they add on strings as the number of strings rises.  Left handed basses are one of different styles of bases.  They are the same thing as right handed basses only flipped over.  An acoustic bass is just a normal bass guitar that has a hollow sound when played and is commonly made of wood.  An electric bass is close to the same thing as an acoustic but it can be plugged into an amplifier.
