One of the most famous ballets Swan Lake was choreographed by Petipa and Ivanov in 1895. The music was composed by the famous composer Tchaikovsky. The plot of the ballet is that the Prince Siegfried's mother wants him to marry but all he wants to is to hunt by the lake. Swans start to fly around him but they become beautiful women. The prince falls in love with the princess of the swans Odette. Odette mimes to him that the evil Rothbart has turned her and her friends into swans. At a ball Rothbart sends his daughter in disguise as Odette. Odette comes and the Prince realizes that Odile (Rothbart's daughter) is a fraud and he marries Odette.

The Nutcracker choreographed by Ivanov in 1892 and the music was composed by Tchaikovsky. The plot of the story is Clara is given a nutcracker for Christmas Eve. That night Clara creeps downstairs and falls asleep. While she sleeps she dreams of that the doll turns into a prince that takes her to see magical things like sugar plum fairies. After her wonderful trip she awakes back at her house.

              
     

Romeo and Juliet was choreographed by MacMillan in 1965 and the music was composed by Prokofiev. This ballet was based on the Shakespeare's play is about two young adults that are in love but their parents hate each other so they won't let the two meet. They meet several times in secret and then secretly get married. Juliet takes a potion and Romeo whom believes she is dead drinks poison. Juliet awakes to find him dead and then stabs herself.

Giselle was choreographed by Coralli and Perrot in 1841 and the music was composed by Adam. This ballet is about a girl named Giselle who loves to dance and falls in love with the Prince Albrecht who's disguised as a villager. When the hunting party comes Giselle tells them they are to be married. But the Prince betrays her and Giselle dies in her mothers arms. When the Prince goes to visit her grave the queen orders him to dance until he dies. Giselle still loves him so she dances with him and at dawn he is saved.

           
    

Sleeping Beauty was choreographed by Petipa in 1890 and the music was compose by Tchaikovsky. Fairies come to Aurora's christening to bring her gifts. The wicked fairy told her that when Aurora is 16 she will prick her finger and die. On Aurora's 16th birthday she pricks her finger and falls into a deep sleep and can only be awakened if a prince kisses her. The prince awakens her and they celebrate their marriage.

Don Quixote was choreographed by Petipa in 1869 and the music was composed by Minkus. This ballet is set in Spain. Don Quixote and his servant Sancho Panza seek adventure. Kitri is a beautiful young girl who loves Lorenzo but her father wants her to marry the wealthy Gamache. In the end Kitri and Lorenzo marry.
