Referee Signals

 

Boarding-check an opponent into the boards in a violent way Cross Checking- Striking an opponent with the stick, while both hands are on the stick and both arms are extended
Charging-checking an opponent in a violent way a a result of skating or charging at him.
Elbowing-check an opponent with your elbow High Sticking- Striking an opponent with the stick, which is held above shoulder height
Slashing-using the stick to strike an opponent Spearing-poking an opponent with the blade of the stick Slow Whistle-the official waits to blow his whistle because of a delayed off sides or delayed penalty call. Done while the opposing team has the puck.
Tripping-tripping an opponent with the stick, a hand or foot Unsportsmanlike Conduct-Showing poor sportsmanship toward an opponent. For example: biting pulling hair etc. Wash Out-goal not allowed
Holding-holding back an opponent with hands or arms Hooking- using the blade of the stick to hold an opponent back Icing- shooting the puck across the opposing teams goal line from one's own side of the rink. Called only if the opposing player touches the puck first.
Interference- Holding back an opponent who does not have the puck in play Kneeing- using a knee to hold an opponent back Roughing- shoving or striking an opponent
