Ashanti
Douglas was born on October 13, 1980 in Glencove, New York. It all started
in 1994, when she performed at a local talent show and caught the
attention of the music industry. She signed with a management team and was
singing at better places including madison square garden, china club and
soul cafe, which eventually became an opportunity to work with Irv Gotti
of Murder Inc. Records.
Ashanti was born in a musical family. Her mother is a dance instructor and her father used to sing. She started singing in a gospel choir at age six, which led to dancing and son writing as she got older. The name Ashanti means war princess, and it belongs to the princess, and first woman of Murder Inc. Records. At the age of twenty-one, she has four songs on the top 30 of the billboards top 100 singles chart. She wrote her first single, Foolish, and some songs for Christina Milian. She also wrote "ain't it funny" for Jennifer Lopez. |
