FSTAR Events
| STAR EVENTS are what the students work on all year. They can deal with kids, computers and even cooking. The students get awards at the end of each state conference and two people or groups get to go to nationals and compete to win bigger things. | |

Applied Technology Applied Technology, an individual or team event, recognizes participants who develop a project using technology that addresses a concern related to family and consumer sciences and related occupations and integrates and applies content from academic subjects. Participants must prepare a portfolio showing evidence of project activities and skills and an oral presentation describing the project and the use of technology.

Career Investigation Career Investigation, an individual event, recognizes participants for their ability to perform self-assessments, research and explore a career, set career goals, create a plan for achieving goals and present info. in a family and consumer sciences or related area. Paticipants must prepare a portfolio showing evidense of research and planning, and an oral presentation descibing project efforts. |

Chapter Showcase Chapter Showcase, a team event, recognizes chapters that devolop and implement a well-balanced program of work and promote FCCLA and family and consumer sciences and related occupations skills to the community. Participants must prepare either a display or manual showing evidense of work and an oral presentation that describes activities in detail. |

Chapter Service Project Chapter Service Project, a team event, recognizes chapters that develop and implement in-depth service project that makes a worthwhile contribution to families, schools and communicaties. Students must use family and consumer sciences and related occupations skills to address and take action on a community need. Participants must prepare either a display or manual showing evidense of project activties and an oral presentation that describes the in-depth service project in detail. |

Culinary Arts Culinary Arts, an individual and team event, recognizes participants enrolled in occupational food service training programs for their ability to work individually and as members of a team to produce a quality meal using industrial culinary art techniques and equipment. Teams of participants must develop a plan for the time allotted, prepare meun items given to them at the time of the event and present their prepared items to evaluators. They also will fill out a team evaluation sheet. |
