Chris Kirkpatrick was the starter of the group.  In 1995, he came up with an idea of a band.  He had been to many auditions, and had met Justin Timberlake.  Chris  gave Justin a call up to ask him if he was interested in starting a band.  Justin was happy to join the band.  Justin knew J.C. Chasez from The Mickey Mouse Club, Chris and Justin called J.C.  He also joined the band immediately. Chris had known Joey Faton from working at Universal Studios, Joey also joined the band.  The band practiced and practiced and they sounded great, but they were missing a bass (or lower) sounding voice.  The last member to join the band was Lance Bass.  Lance had made N*sync complete.  Now, they were missing a name.  Justin's mom thought up the name insync but the guys weren't convinced.  Justin's mom unscrambled all the guys names and came up with N*sync.  She took the last letter of each of their first name.  That is how N*sync came to be!
