Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Jr., Lance Bass and JC Chasez: Five young guys who aren't related, didnt grow up together, and weren't recruited by a music manager, meet by chance in Orlando, Flordia. They're all talented, all busy paying their showbiz dues, all ambitous. Bonus: They've become friends.

Back when cable's The Disney Channel hit the airwaves, one of its first variety shoes was The New Mickey Mouse Club, a remake of a successful 1950's children's TV show. The '90s version, quickly dubbed MMC, was a combination of music, dance, comedy skits, and short films. It featured a dozen 'tween and teen "mouseketeers," who were excellent dancers, singers, actors, and comics.

So what's that got to go with *NSYNC? Three words: JC, Justin, and Joey!

JC, Justin, Joey Met on the set of the MMC. Chris comes in here, Chris Always wanted to be a singer. He didn't get a chance to kick his dream into the reality zone until after high school. where he attended college in Orlando. There is where he got the job with Universal Studios' music and dance group, Hollywood Hi-Tones.

So, at first, there were four. They bonded over everything, including music, dance, and performing.

It was Chris's idea to pick up on what people were already assuming, and form an actual group. The others agreed to give it a shot. They also agreed on a need: one more member to help handle harmonies. Justin had been working with a vocal coach for several years, and that's who suggested Lance Bass, a former client, who once toured with a Mississippi singing group called Attache.

And that is how *NSYNC became *NSYNC
