There are two main types of whales. One, baleen whales, feed on tiny creatures in the water called plankton by filtering them with their teeth. The biggest mammal in the world, the blue whale, is part of that group. |
| The other type, toothed whales, hunt for their prey, which is usually small fish. You are probably familiar with the orca, or killer whale, which is part of that group. | ![]() |
